Gupta Rajan: “But then someone walks into the room and stand in front of this little man. ‘Put the guns away’, the man said. ‘Nobody will die today.’”
Crowd: “Who? Who was it that saved him? Yeah, tell us. Who was it? Who was this man?”
Gupta Rajan: “Navorski. Viktor ‘The Goat’ Navorski.”
Lines from Tom Hanks starrer The Terminal where janitor Gupta Rajan dramatically describes the incident that heralded Viktor Navorski’s widespread popularity and endearment at the terminal. Nice movie, that was. But the focus tonight is, The Goat.
The Goat, suggested as an alter for me by Hari. The word alter (not to be confused with alter ego
) was used for lack of knowledge of better word/phrase and for sounding cool
. The idea is a name or entity which would represent me in cyberspace – an avatar. The primary reason for this this suggestion is the tuft that I let grow under my chin, under the pretense of a goatee. Now, this bunch of hair draws mild to serious flak with some people I meet, but still, I keep it as I think it looks okay on me.
Coming back to The Goat, when I think of it, is indeed a good alter/avatar for me. Add to it, the fact that my zodiac sign is Capricon, again The Goat. I have to dig up facts and folklore to see whether I have something in common with the goat – I’m expecting to see “Goats are the most intelligent animals on earth …” and stuff like that. The Goat might just be the harbinger of my fame and fortune, as was Mr. Navorski’s. Blah!
P.S:- I lost today, the vainness of being non-reachable out of home. Got a mobile phone and a connection to go with it, I meant. Sayonara, the jaada of telling someone that I consider the mobile phone a burden. You will be missed.
